Renaming Item Number in Dynamics 365

For some other reason users wants to change Item number i.e. existing item will be replaced with new item number.

Step 1: Go to Released Product and choose item number

Options --> Record Info --> Rename

Enter New Value for item number.

So, all transactions are renamed from M0004-1 to M0004-2.

Step 2: Change Product number

Click Product information management >  Products > All products and product masters.

Search and Double Click on item number

On the Action Pane, in the Maintain group, click Edit to open the Product details form.

On the Action Pane, in the Maintain group, click Change Product Number.

In the New product number field, enter the new product number.

In this way you can rename most of the records in D365.
